  Carnival  in Ecuador is a lively cultural celebration that takes place with enthusiasm throughout the country. It is held between the months of February and March. During carnival, people get wet with water and, in some cases, even lay eggs or flour. Parades of floats, troupes and costumes are an essential part of these celebrations. Some of the most outstanding carnival festivals are the Guaranda Carnival, the Festival of Flowers and Fruits, Guano Carnaval and Taita Carnaval

 The Taita Carnaval is a traditional celebration in the provinces of Azuay and Cañar, located in the Andean region of Ecuador.  The Taita Carnaval is a unique festivity that establishes a reciprocal relationship between the Pacha Mama (Mother Earth) and the divinities of the Andean worldview. During this celebration, indigenous people wear colorful costumes and express gratitude for agricultural production.  The Taita Carnaval takes place between February 21 and 25 in various locations in the provinces of Azuay and Cañar. People amuse themselves with water, oil, talcum powder, eggs, and ink in a kind of war, usually between relatives and acquaintances. In the cantons of Cañar, El Tambo and Suscal, there are parades of troupes, artistic shows and gastronomic tastings.  The most recognized carnival festivals in the province of Chimborazo are those of Guano, where several events are held that receive thousands of national and foreign tourists. The Carnival in Guano is a traditional festivity that has been maintained for several years and has become a very important party, full of joy, music, troupes, dance, corsos and more.  It will be held from February 18 to 21, 2023; starting on Shrove Saturday, followed by Shrove Sunday full of parties and parades, passing through Shrove Monday and ending on Shrove Tuesday.   There are village band competitions, corsos in the Santa Teresita neighborhood and fireworks.
